Lexington claims the title of "horse capital of the world" and more champion Thoroughbred horses are discovered at the famous Keeneland sales than anywhere else on the planet. Up for a cruise? Hop in the car, roll the windows down, and pick a direction - within 20 minutes from downtown you'll be on rolling country roads under the trees, with perfectly manicured paddocks as far as the eye can see. Or, schedule a tour!
Bourbon
Kentucky ages 95% of the world’s bourbon as only the bluegrass state has the perfect mix of climate and pure limestone water necessary for producing the spirit and its 4.7million barrels of bourbon actually outnumbers its residents. There are 9 distilleries within 35 minutes of Lexington, including two right downtown so visiting one (or three) of these is a must, even if you're more of a Whiteclaw or wine cooler aficionado!

Kentucky is the most successful Division I basketball program in history in terms of both all-time wins (2,320) and winning percentage (.765) and leads all schools in total NCAA tournament appearances (59), tournament wins (131), Sweet Sixteen appearances (45), and Elite Eight appearances (38).
